Celebrate with this delicious 4th of July Patriotic Poke Cake recipe Perfect for impressing guests at your summer gatherings
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box of vanilla cake mix
- 1 cup of water
- 1/3 cup of vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 package of strawberry jello
- 1 package of blueberry jello
- 1 cup of boiling water
- 2 cups of whipped cream
- Fresh strawberries and blueberries
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Beat on medium speed until smooth and well combined, about 2 minutes.
- Pour the batter into the greased baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the jello. In two separate bowls, dissolve the strawberry jello in 1 cup of boiling water and blueberry jello in another cup of boiling water. Stir well and let them cool.
- Once the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
- Using a fork, poke holes all over the top of the cake, making sure to reach down to the bottom of the cake.
- Slowly pour the cooled strawberry jello over half of the cake, letting it soak in before topping with the blueberry jello on the other half.
- Let the cake cool completely in the fridge for at least 4 hours (or overnight) to allow the jello to set.
- Before serving, spread the whipped cream over the top of the cake, and garnish with fresh strawberries and blueberries.
- Slice, serve, and enjoy your festive dessert!
