  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar and cook until bubbling and caramelized, about 3-4 minutes. Pour this mixture into a greased 9-inch round cake pan.
  • Evenly layer the sliced apples over the caramel in the pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry, mixing until just combined.
  • Gently spoon the cake batter over the apples, covering them completely.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then carefully invert it onto a serving plate.
