  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy and light in color.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the dried or tart cherries until evenly distributed.
  • Using a cookie scoop or two tablespoons, drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • If desired, whip the cream until soft peaks form and pipe it onto the cooled cookies. Top with shaved chocolate or a fresh cherry.
