4 cups fresh blackberries
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine fresh blackberries with 1/2 cup of sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Toss gently and set aside.
In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar. Gradually add in milk and melted butter until smooth. Optionally, mix in cinnamon.
Pour the berry mixture into a greased baking dish. Gently pour the batter over the blackberries.
Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the berries are bubbling.
