Savor the Delicious Caramelized Sweet Potato Apple Hash Browns Recipe A perfect blend of flavors for a unique twist on a breakfast classic
Ingredients
Scale
2 large sweet potatoes (about 2 lbs)
1 large apple (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
1 medium onion
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Salt and pepper (to taste)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Chopped fresh herbs (like parsley or thyme) (optional)
Cheddar cheese (for topping) (optional)
Chopped green onions (for garnish)
Crumbled feta or goat cheese (for garnish)
Fresh herbs (for garnish)
Instructions
Start by peeling and grating the sweet potatoes using a box grater or a food processor. Place the grated sweet potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture.
Finely chop the onion and core the apple before grating it. Leave the skin on for added nutrients.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Toss the chopped onion into the skillet and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until they become transparent and slightly golden.
Stir in the grated sweet potatoes and apples. Spread the mixture evenly across the skillet.
Sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cinnamon over the hash browns. Stir to combine.
Allow the mixture to cook without stirring for about 5-7 minutes, letting the bottom caramelize. Carefully flip sections to cook the other side.
Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the other side is golden and crispy.
Transfer your hash browns to a serving plate and garnish with your chosen toppings. Enjoy while hot!
