Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 kg Chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup Hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Rice wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Five-spice powder
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger, grated

  • Instructions

  • In a bowl, whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice wine vinegar, five-spice powder, minced garlic, and grated ginger until well combined.
  • Place the chicken thighs in a resealable bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring it’s well coated. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or ideally overnight for maximum flavor.
  • Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Remove the chicken from the marinade (keep the marinade for basting) and place the thighs on the prepared baking tray. Roast in the oven for 25-30 minutes, basting with the reserved marinade halfway through.
  • The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 75°C (165°F) and has a beautiful caramelized exterior.
  • Allow the chicken to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite side dishes!
