  • 23 tablespoons of flour (or chickpea flour for a gluten-free option)
  • Oil for frying

  • Optional: Spices (like coriander or curry powder)
  • Optional: Other veggies (like zucchini or sweet potato)

  • Instructions

  • Drain and rinse the chickpeas thoroughly. Mash them, leaving some chunks for texture.
  • Chop the veggies: dice the onion and bell pepper, and grate the carrot.
  • In a large bowl, combine the mashed chickpeas, chopped veggies, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Gradually add flour (or chickpea flour) to the mixture until it holds its shape.
  • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Test if it's ready by dropping a small bit of the mixture in; it should sizzle.
  • Scoop about 2 tablespoons of the mixture, form into a patty, and gently place it in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown on each side, about 4-5 minutes.
