Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy—about 3-4 minutes.
- Mix in the egg and vanilla until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients until just incorporated.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough to about ¼-inch thickness and cut out heart shapes with cookie cutters.
- Place the cut-out shapes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 8-10 minutes.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Beat together the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth, then add milk and vanilla to reach desired consistency.
