  • Start by brewing your strong coffee and let it cool slightly—while you're at it, pour yourself a little limoncello for a taste test.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until pale and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
  • Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese and lemon zest until smoothly combined with no lumps.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold this whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
  • In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee with the limoncello. Dip each ladyfinger into this mixture for just a second.
  • Layer half of the soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of your serving dish or individual glasses. Spoon half of the mascarpone mix over the top.
  • Add another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture. Smooth it down and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
