  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round 9-inch cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs and then mix in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, and mix until just combined.
  • Carefully add the boiling water to the batter. Mix gently—this is normal for the batter to be thin.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
