2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
½ cup warm milk
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
3 ½ to 4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it’s frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 3 ½ cups of flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg into that well.
Mix everything together with a spoon and then transition to your hands as it comes together. Add remaining flour if the dough is too sticky.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Shape the dough into a ball, place it in a greased bowl, and cover tightly. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Once risen, punch it down gently, and knead in the minced garlic and parsley until evenly distributed.
Divide the dough into small balls and arrange them in a greased baking dish.
Cover the rolls again and let them rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter before baking.
