Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 ½ to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

  • Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it’s frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 3 ½ cups of flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg into that well.
  • Mix everything together with a spoon and then transition to your hands as it comes together. Add remaining flour if the dough is too sticky.
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Shape the dough into a ball, place it in a greased bowl, and cover tightly. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Once risen, punch it down gently, and knead in the minced garlic and parsley until evenly distributed.
  • Divide the dough into small balls and arrange them in a greased baking dish.
  • Cover the rolls again and let them rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter before baking.
