  • 1 cup Long-grain rice
  • 1 lb Ground lamb or beef
  • 1/2 cup Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tbsp Dill, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Feta cheese (optional)
  • Chopped tomatoes (optional)

  • Instructions

  • Cut the tops off the onions and hollow them out using a small knife.
  • Cook the rice according to the package instructions, reducing the cooking time by about 5 minutes.
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil and brown the ground meat. Stir in chopped herbs and seasonings.
  • Combine the cooked rice with the meat mixture and remove from heat.
  • Stuff the hollowed onions with the filling and place them in a baking dish.
  • Drizzle with remaining tomato sauce and lemon juice. Bake covered at 375°F for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
