- 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 cup of unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 3/4 cup of packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (optional)
- Zest of one orange (optional)
- Sprinkles or colored sugar (optional)
- Sea salt flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Set aside.
- In another large bowl, beat together the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, along with the vanilla extract. Mix until well-blended.
- Gradually add in the flour mixture and mix just until everything is combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts or orange zest if using) until evenly distributed.
- Line two baking sheets with parchment paper, drop spoonfuls of dough onto the sheet, about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
