  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of milk
  • ½ cup of vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 16 ounces of cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups of powdered sugar
  • Optional: a pinch of espresso powder
  • Optional: a splash of almond extract
  • Fresh berries for garnish
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until smooth.
  • In another bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar. Beat until creamy and smooth.
  • Pour half of the chocolate cake batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Dollop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the batter, then pour the remaining chocolate batter on top. Swirl a knife through to create a marbled effect.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
