Ingredients

  • 12 sheets lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 4 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in tomato sauce, season with salt and pepper, and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, half of the mozzarella, and half of the parmesan. Add chopped basil, salt, and pepper, mixing well.
  • In a 9×13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of tomato sauce on the bottom. Place three lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread a layer of the cheese mixture on top. Follow with a layer of sauce. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles, remaining sauce, and topping with the rest of the mozzarella and parmesan.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until bubbling and golden on top.
  • Allow the lasagna to cool for 10 minutes before cutting. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
