  • ½ cup chocolate chips (optional)

  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, and eggs until smooth and creamy.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  • If using nuts or chocolate chips, gently fold them into the batter.
  • Transfer the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • In a small saucepan, melt ½ cup of butter over medium heat. Stir in 1 cup of brown sugar and ¼ cup of milk, bringing it to a boil. Remove from heat and whisk in 2 cups of powdered sugar until smooth.
  • Once the bars have cooled, pour the brown sugar frosting over the top and spread it evenly.
