  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Optional: 1/4 cup cream cheese, red pepper flakes, chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Special Garnishes: powdered sugar, crushed graham crackers, whipped cream or vanilla ice cream

  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Stir until well mixed.
  • Roll out your thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into rectangular strips (about 3 inches wide).
  • Place a tablespoon of the pumpkin mixture on the center of each pastry strip.
  • Starting from one end, fold the pastry over the filling and pinch to seal, forming a twisted shape. Gently twist each piece to create the signature ‘twist’ look.
  • Place the twists onto the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they have enough space between them.
  • Brush the tops with the beaten egg to give them a lovely golden color while baking.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
  • Once done, remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
