1 lb. pork sausage
4 cups sourdough bread cubes
1 large apple (diced)
1 cup cranberries
1 onion (chopped)
2 celery stalks (chopped)
1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
2 tablespoons fresh sage (chopped)
1 tablespoon fresh thyme (chopped)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet, crumble and brown the sausage over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Add the chopped onion and celery to the same skillet. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in the diced apple and cranberries, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until the apples begin to soften slightly.
In a large bowl, add the sausage mixture to the bread cubes. Sprinkle in the fresh herbs, then pour in the broth. Season with salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Spoon the stuffing mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
Cover with foil and bake for about 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.
