2 tablespoons of baking powder

1/2 cup of unsalted butter, softened
1 cup of granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
1 cup of milk
4 cups of fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1/4 cup of granulated sugar (for strawberries)
2 cups of heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup of powdered sugar
1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract (for whipped cream)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until pale and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, mixing until just combined.
Pour batter into prepared pans and smooth tops. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Macerate strawberries with 1/4 cup sugar and let sit.
Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
Assemble the cake by placing one layer on a serving platter, adding macerated strawberries and cream, then top with the second layer and remaining cream and strawberries.
