Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large Sweet Potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1 small Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 large Egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup Flour (all-purpose or gluten-free)
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • Optional: Red Pepper Flakes, Cheese (shredded), Fresh Herbs

  • Instructions

  • Prep the Ingredients: Start by peeling and grating the sweet potatoes. Use a box grater or food processor to make this easier. Squeeze out excess moisture using a cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel.
  • In a Mixing Bowl: Combine the grated sweet potatoes, chopped onion, minced garlic, beaten egg, flour, salt, and pepper. Mix everything until well combined.
  • Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat about 2-3 tablespoons of oil over medium heat.
  • Form and Fry the Hash Browns: Scoop a handful of the mixture and flatten it gently into a patty. Place it in the hot oil. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
  • Cook Until Golden: Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Drain and Serve: Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and serve hot with your favorite garnishes!
