2 cups of sushi rice
2 1/2 cups of water
1 teaspoon of salt
Soy sauce to taste
Optional Additions: Spicy tuna or salmon, Miso paste, Scallions or sesame seeds
Special Garnishes: Chopped fresh herbs, Toasted nori strips
Instructions
Rinse sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine rice and water in a pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and let simmer for 20 minutes. Let rest for 10 minutes.
Sprinkle in salt to the warm rice and mix gently. Let cool slightly until warm but manageable.
Wet hands with water, grab a handful of rice, and shape into a ball, adding filling if desired.
Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, brush with oil, and grill the rice balls for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden and crispy. Brush with soy sauce while grilling.
Serve garnished with chopped herbs or sesame seeds and with soy sauce on the side.
