- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan with non-stick cooking spray.
- Combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt in a large bowl.
- Whisk together the pumpkin puree, buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth in another bowl.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
- Carefully transfer the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
- Bake for about 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the donuts to cool slightly before removing from the pan and drizzle with maple glaze while they are warm.
Notes
For a vegan version, replace the egg with a flax egg and use plant-based milk.
