Instructions
- Start by thinly slicing your onions; gather your other ingredients and have them ready.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and salt, stirring well.
- Allow them to caramelize slowly for about 30-40 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
- Stir in the brown sugar once the onions are golden brown, and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded Gruyère, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and cooled onions in a mixing bowl. Stir until well mixed.
- Transfer the mixture into an oven-safe dish and smooth it out.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Serve hot alongside wavy potato chips.
