Description

A warm and comforting dessert that combines sweet and tart apples with a crunchy topping, perfect for autumn evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare the apples by washing, peeling, and slicing them, discarding the cores. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon.
  2. In another bowl, mix the old-fashioned rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and salt until crumbly.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle the crisp topping over the apples. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Can be modified for vegan or gluten-free dietary needs.
