Description

A rich chocolate cake infused with tart cherries and topped with whipped cream, inspired by the traditional Black Forest cake.


Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling
  • ½ cup Kirsch (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your Bundt pan with cooking spray or butter. Dust with cocoa powder.
  2. Whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl. In another bowl, combine buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in the cherry pie filling.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack.
