1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced3 tablespoons cornstarch2 tablespoons vegetable oil1 red bell pepper, sliced1 green bell pepper, sliced3–4 red chillies, chopped2 garlic cloves, minced1–2 tablespoons soy sauce1 tablespoon hoisin sauce1 teaspoon sesame oil
Start by patting the beef slices dry.Dust the beef slices in cornstarch, shaking off any excess.In a large frying pan or wok, pour in the vegetable oil and heat it up over medium-high heat.Gently add the beef to the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary, until golden brown (about 3 minutes on each side).Remove the crispy beef and set on a paper towel to drain.In the same pan, toss in the garlic and chillies for about a minute until fragrant, then add the bell peppers and sauté for another couple of minutes.Return the beef to the pan and drizzle in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil.
