Description
Creamy mashed potatoes elevated with rich brown butter and aromatic garlic, perfect for family gatherings and festive occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Start by washing and peeling your Yukon Gold potatoes. Cut them into equally sized chunks and place in a pot. Cover with cold water and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then simmer until fork-tender, approximately 15-20 minutes.
- While the potatoes cook, prepare the brown butter. Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently until golden brown and nutty—around 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
- Once the potatoes are cooked, drain and return to the pot. Pour in the garlic-brown butter mixture and heavy cream. Mash until desired consistency, and season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer the creamy mashed potatoes to a warm serving dish, optionally drizzling with extra brown butter and garnishing with fresh herbs. Serve immediately.
Notes
Feel free to customize with fresh herbs, crushed red pepper flakes, or a sprinkle of crispy bacon for added flavor.
