Ingredients
Scale
12 oz linguine or spaghetti
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
4 tbsp unsalted butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
1/4 cup heavy cream
Salt and black pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
Juice of 1 lemon
Instructions
Cook the pasta: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the linguine according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve about 1 cup of the pasta water before draining.
Sauté the shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the shrimp, and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are cooked through. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
Make the sauce: In the same skillet, pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a gentle simmer for about a minute. Stir in the heavy cream and the remaining butter. Let it simmer for another 3-4 minutes.
Combine everything: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, adding the drained pasta as well. Toss everything together until the pasta is evenly coated in the garlic butter sauce.
Finish it off: Squeeze the lemon juice over the pasta and toss in the chopped parsley. Adjust the seasoning with more salt and pepper if necessary.
Serve right away: Dish up your Garlic Butter Shrimp Pasta, garnishing with extra parsley or cheese as desired.
