Description

A timeless French side dish combining crisp green beans with toasted almonds for a vibrant and flavorful experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the green beans under cold running water. Trim the ends and cut them into smaller pieces if desired. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, measure out your almonds, butter, and olive oil.
  2. Blanch the green beans in boiling water for about 3-4 minutes until tender yet still crisp. Transfer to an ice bath to halt cooking.
  3. Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced almonds and toast for about 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Add the blanched green beans to the skillet, toss gently, and heat through for about 1-2 minutes. Finish with fresh lemon juice, salt, and pepper to taste.

Notes

For added flavor, consider incorporating red pepper flakes or zest of fresh lemon peel. Garnish with parsley or grated Parmesan cheese for a delightful finish.
