Description

A Mediterranean twist on taco night, Gyros Smash Tacos combine the flavors of Greek gyros with the joy of tacos, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Ground Lamb or Beef
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • Salt and Black Pepper, to taste
  • 810 Taco Shells
  • 1 cup Tzatziki Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Feta Cheese, crumbled (optional)
  • 1 cup Sliced Tomatoes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Red Onion (optional)
  • Fresh Parsley or Mint (for garnish)
  • Lemon Wedges (for serving)
  • Sliced Jalapeños (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Begin your culinary journey by gathering all your ingredients. Chop the onion and mince the garlic ahead of time. Preheat your skillet over medium-high heat. If using taco shells, prepare them according to package instructions.
  2. Add the ground lamb or beef to the preheated skillet. Brown the meat while breaking it apart with a spoon. After about 5 minutes, introduce the chopped onion and minced garlic. Continue to cook until the meat is browned and the onions are translucent.
  3. Stir in the cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper, allowing the spices to bloom in the hot pan for about a minute.
  4. Once your meat is well-cooked, it’s time to assemble your tacos! Take your recently heated taco shells, spoon in a generous portion of the meat mixture, and top with tzatziki sauce, sliced tomatoes, crumbled feta, and any additional garnishes.
  5. Serve immediately while the filling is hot, inviting your friends and family to dig in!

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute meat with lentils and mushrooms. Serve alongside a Greek salad for a complete meal.
