  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup mushrooms (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Swiss cheese (shredded)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped mushrooms and onions until they are softened and all the moisture has evaporated, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the ground beef, sautéed mushrooms and onions, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until all ingredients are well incorporated without overmixing.
  • Fold in half of the shredded Swiss cheese into the meat mixture.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a lined baking sheet.
  • Top the meatloaf with the remaining Swiss cheese and add crushed black pepper or herbs for garnish if desired.
  • Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 50-60 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
