1 lb of ground beef
4 slices of Swiss cheese
4 slices of rye bread
2 tbsp of butter
1/4 cup of mayonnaise
2 tbsp of ketchup
1 tsp of Dijon mustard
a dash of paprika
optional: caramelized onions
optional: pickles
optional: hot sauce
Instructions
In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons ketchup, 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard, and a sprinkle of paprika. Taste and adjust if necessary.
In a large bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper, then gently shape it into two equal patties.
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add oil or butter. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, adding cheese slices on top in the last minute, covering to let them melt.
Spread butter on one side of each rye bread slice. Toast the bread in another skillet until golden and crispy.
Spread secret sauce on the unbuttered side of two slices of bread, place a patty with melted cheese on each, top with more sauce then another slice of bread, buttered side up.
Grill sandwiches in the skillet for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Press down gently for even cooking.
Cut sandwiches in half and serve with your favorite side.
