Description

Delicious pumpkin cinnamon rolls perfect for cozy autumn mornings, combining the rich flavors of pumpkin and cinnamon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 tbsp milk, to achieve desired consistency

Instructions

  1. Begin by warming your milk until it’s warm to the touch but not hot. Sprinkle the yeast into the warm milk and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and ground cinnamon. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the dry ingredients.
  3. Add the pumpkin puree, melted butter, and the egg to your mixing bowl. Once the yeast mixture is frothy, pour it in and stir until you get a rough dough.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and allow it to rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  5. While the dough is rising, prepare your filling by mixing the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  6. Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick, and spread the softened butter evenly over the surface.
  7. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top, pressing it lightly into the dough.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log, starting from the long side, and slice it into pieces about 1-2 inches thick.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Let them cool slightly before drizzling cream cheese icing on top and serving.

Notes

Feel free to customize your rolls by adding nuts, chocolate chips, or cranberries for extra flavor.
