Description
Delicious pumpkin cinnamon rolls perfect for cozy autumn mornings, combining the rich flavors of pumpkin and cinnamon.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup milk, warmed
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1–2 tbsp milk, to achieve desired consistency
Instructions
- Begin by warming your milk until it’s warm to the touch but not hot. Sprinkle the yeast into the warm milk and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and ground cinnamon. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the dry ingredients.
- Add the pumpkin puree, melted butter, and the egg to your mixing bowl. Once the yeast mixture is frothy, pour it in and stir until you get a rough dough.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and allow it to rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- While the dough is rising, prepare your filling by mixing the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick, and spread the softened butter evenly over the surface.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top, pressing it lightly into the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log, starting from the long side, and slice it into pieces about 1-2 inches thick.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let them cool slightly before drizzling cream cheese icing on top and serving.
