Description

Deliciously spiced pumpkin scones drizzled with a sweet maple glaze, perfect for fall mornings or cozy gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter and blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Mix the pumpkin puree, milk, and egg in a separate bowl until smooth.
  5. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently just until combined.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a circle about 1 inch thick.
  7. Cut the circle into wedges and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Brush the tops with a little milk or cream.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Cool slightly before drizzling with the spiced maple glaze.

Notes

For added customization, consider adding chocolate chips or walnuts to the dough before baking.
